Akwaaba!

(that means welcome!)

We're Ezé Authentic Foods, and we bottle the flavors of a Ghanaian kitchen so your table gets what ours always had: one pot everyone gathers around.

Why "Ezé"?

Named after the pot

An eze is a heavy, Earthenware pot from Ghana. It's typically passed down, and sits over the fire while the whole house fills up with the smell of dinner.

It's what Naana cooked in, and it's where our story starts.

Naana's Kitchen

The woman behind the recipe

Our founder's grandmother, Naana, never went to school because girls weren't sent in her day. Instead, she went to learn how to cook from a woman who ran a catering business in Kpando. That's where it started, and cooking stayed with her for the rest of her life.

But Naana was so much more than a cook. She was an entrepreneur through and through. She became a contractor supplying secondary schools, and she'd travel all the way up to northern Ghana to buy and sell yams, corn, beans, and cloth. And she did it all while raising seven children and keeping her family together.

She's proof that being smart has nothing to do with having a traditional education. Her business sense lived in her head and her love lived in her cooking, and her jollof was where the two came together. Ezé is her recipe, and her memory, in every jar.

The Base

Every jar starts the same way

Tomatoes. Onions. Bell peppers. Ginger. The base Naana cooked everything in, slow-simmered the way she taught us, then jarred so you can start where she started.

From Our Kitchen to Yours

Keeping the pot on the fire

We started Ezé to keep Naana's pot on the fire, and to share Ghana the way we know it: generous, flavorful, and always ready to feed one more.

Thanks for pulling up a chair.
